Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine

The Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine (CGCM) was founded in 2003. It is an alliance of high-end talents, famous universities and famous enterprises in TCM research, teaching and research and development. At present, the alliance has developed into a non-profit international academic organization with more than 170 member units all over the world. Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine and Shanghai Research Center for standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine are among the 16 initiators of the alliance. Academician Zheng Yongqi (academician of Academia Sinica, Taiwan), Professor of pharmacy of Yale University, is the chairman of the alliance, and academician Chen Kaixian and academician Pei gang are vice chairmen.

The main purpose of CGCM is to promote the globalization of Chinese herbal medicine, with the goal of coaching manufacturers to get FDA approval for new Chinese herbal medicines. CGCM is a non-profit organization, which aims to gather the strength of many famous international research institutions to promote and promote the development of global Chinese herbal medicine research.

CGCM is headquartered in the University of Hong Kong, and has six working groups:

Intellectual property working group. Devoted to the development of four technical platforms: clinical trial, quality management, and database and herb source.

CGCM has set up offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, and New Zealand to name a few.
